Your First Visit
Your first visit to Dundrum Dental Surgery is an especially important one. We want you to get to know our team and we want to get to know you. We promise you a warm welcome. On your first visit to the practice we will ask you to help us create your patient record. This will include your dental history, any concerns you may have and your general health history so that we can ensure we provide you with the very best care. We will also ask for your contact details such as name, address and contact numbers so that we can contact you.
Before You Arrive
We can check if you are entitled to a Free Examination under your PRSI. When you book your Examination visit have your PPS number to hand and we can check for you with our new online portal.
Those eligible under the Social Welfare scheme are covered for a Dental Examination once per Calendar year. As of late 2018 this is a prior approval system and so your cover must be confirmed by the department prior to your appointment, ideally at the time of booking. This means if the department decline your cover, but you feel you should be covered, you can contact them for clarification. This often results in a correction by the departmment, meaning you can have your visit covered for free.
Please note if you are covered under the spousal scheme the Department of Social Welfare Online Portal does not currently accept spousal claims. Unfortunately this is out of our control, and is advised by the Department of Social Welfare. This means your exam must be requested for cover under the spousal scheme using a paper form, sent by post. We can assist you with this submission to make this an easy process for you. As this is a prior approval scheme as of late 2018, to be covered for a free spousal examination, cover must be confirmed before your appointment. Please call us for advice.

How We Communicate with our Patients
We keep in touch with our patients using text, email or if you prefer, a letter or phone call. We know how busy our patients are so we will remind you of appointments you have booked to make sure the appointment still suits. To help keep you healthy we will also remind you when you are due to return for your next visit so you can be as pro-active as possible with your dental care.
We like to communicate with our patients in the way that suits them best. If you would prefer one particular type of communication, or if you would prefer not to receive reminder messages just let our reception team know when you next visit, email us or give us a call.
We have free wifi available throughout the practice, along with complimentary filtered water and if the rain comes down unexpectedly we even have practice umbrellas available to borrow until your next visit. And please do let us know if there is anything that would make your visit easier, a blanket, a neck pillow, something for dry lips or some Netflix on the screen over your dental chair to help time pass…
